Queens of the Mic 👑🎤
History was made at the Queens of the Mic Showcase! 👑🎤🔥
Putting on an event of this magnitude isn't just a job—it's a mission. I was in the trenches wearing every single hat imaginable: Co-DJ for the ladies, host, stage manager, promoter, videographer etc. Juggling all of that live in the moment was a heavy grind, but seeing the immense talent, unity, and energy take over the city made every second worth it!
Because I was moving at 100 mph behind the scenes, there was unfortunately one performance I wasn't able to catch on video. Pinky Motha F Redd, I need to publicly apologize for missing your footage—that was 100% unintentional! You are a true local favorite and an absolute pillar for the women in Utah. Every single artist looks up to you because you set the standard for high-quality visuals, relentless consistency, and an unmatched work ethic. You are a legendary 801 Takeoff Queen, and it remains a privilege to spin your music on 92.5 The Beat / U92 SLC.
I have to lay out the red carpet for all the phenomenal Queens who shattered expectations and blessed the stage:
- Suga-T: Unlimited love to my big sis, the West Coast icon, Bay Area Queen of Hip Hop, and founding member of The Click! Beyond locking down the weekend shooting music videos and locking in studio time with us, your presence lifted the entire room.
- MS.TOI: Huge salute for helping my brother Lazyvision Records, my sister Anjanette Roberts (AMR productions) and I pull this entire vision together. Even with your superstar status, you came through with zero ego, heavy support throughout the whole rollout, and total dedication to the culture.
- Young Mvry: You set the stage on fire! Watching your evolution into a power-house performer over our years of working together has been nothing short of inspiring.
- Kaya Brown: Pure brilliance! You came through and commanded the room with 100% raw, live vocals that left everyone speechless.
- Lala Lace: An undeniable 801 Takeoff Queen! Your stage presence and high-octane energy never fail to electrify the crowd.
- Daija Ann: Our newest 801 Takeoff Queen! Watching your rapid rise right in front of our eyes is incredible. The growth is real, and the whole city is proud of you.
- Macyn Reigh: A true boss lady and an essential 801 Takeoff Queen. You’re not just making noise with the music—you are building infrastructure, cultivating fresh talent, and moving like a true executive.
- Stella Standingbear: A powerhouse local artist! Thank you for gracing our stage with your gift. You are an absolute 801 Takeoff Queen, and it was a honor putting your records on 92.5 The Beat!
The Queens of the Mic Showcase was a monumental victory for our culture and proof of what happens when real talent connects with real purpose.
None of this happens without the team in the trenches.
A massive shout-out to my brother Jed Brooke / Lazy Vision Records—we really did that! We built this entire monumental vision together, walked straight through the fire, and made it out victorious on the other side. This is just the beginning; the first of many legendary nights.
THE MOVEMENT DOESN'T STOP HERE — SEASON 5 OF THE 801 TAKEOFF IS UP NEXT! 🚀🔥
